Position Description

Salary: $10.61 - $16.65
Starting salary will generally start at lower end of salary range, DOQ

Position Type: Part Time - Monday thru Friday 10:00am – 2:00pm (shift time flexible) 17.5 to 20 hours per week.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of tasks in custodial care of the senior center building.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Senior Program Specialist.


SUPERVISION EXERCISED

None.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs routine custodial duties including: vacuuming, sweeping mopping, waxing, emptying trash containers, dusting, cleaning windows, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, polishing furniture, and cleaning and polishing drinking fountains.
Assists with periodic custodial and maintenance duties as directed.
Ensures that facilities are clean, safe, attractive and secure.
Reports problems and concerns regarding custodial care and facility safety issues to the Senior Program Specialist.
Regular and predictable attendance
Works in the kitchen doing dishes following lunch.
Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


1. Education and Experience

A. Graduation from high school or equivalent GED;
B. One year of experience involving responsible custodial work and building maintenance. C. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in general custodial work; interpersonal communication skills.

Skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools common to custodial care and building maintenance.

Ability to work independently; lift and carry heavy materials; establish and follow through on work priorities; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; develop effective working relationships with supervisor, and fellow employees

3. Special Qualifications:

Must pass a background investigation.
Must be able to move objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
Must obtain a Food Handlers Permit within 3 months of hire date.

4. Work Environment:

Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, etc. Talking, hearing and seeing are essential to the performance of the job. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and discriminating thinking. Occasionally exposed to high work places, volatile materials, electrical hazards, and toxic materials. Strength of arms, hands, legs, and back required in the performance of essential functions.
